Redknapp - Bentley will pay

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that internal action will be taken against David Bentley. The England winger was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning after crashing his Porsche into a lamppost. He was charged with drink-driving and has been fined £100,000 by Spurs. Redknapp is keen to keep the issue in-house, but insists the former Blackburn ace still has a future at White Hart Lane. He said: "There will be internal action. I am very anti-drinking to start with and very anti-drinking and driving. There is no place for that. "David is very lucky that no-one was injured - he has got off quite lightly. "He is really low about what he has done. I don't care what walk of life it is in, you cannot drink and drive. You just need to jump in a taxi. "It's a big mistake. You cannot be making too many mistakes like that. "It will cost him and it may cost somebody else if you are driving under the influence." Bentley could be offered an opportunity to make amends for his misdemeanour when Tottenham entertain Liverpool on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1, with Redknapp admitting the 24-year-old remains in his plans. "He realises he has made a mistake and it is not something we stand for," he added. "David Bentley is a smashing lad. He knows that what happened will cost him. He will pay for it. "David is still here and is available for selection against Liverpool. He has trained well but is obviously low."
