Rafael van der Vaart: I have nothing to prove to Real Madrid

Rafael van der Vaart insists he has nothing to prove to Real Madrid tonight ahead of his reunion with his former club.[LNB]The Holland international joined Tottenham at the start of the season for ?8million from Madrid after failing to establish himself alongside the galacticos at the Bernabeu.[LNB]The playmaker has been a revelation in Harry Redknapp's side since he arrived at White Hart Lane, playing a central role in the Barclays Premier League club's run to the last eight of the Champions League.[LNB] All smiles: Rafael van der Vaart insists he has nothing to prove to his former employers[LNB]And Van der Vaart refuses to look back on his relatively unsuccessful two-year stint with Real, insisting he ready to make history with his new employers.[LNB]'I just want to play a good game and be important for my team but it's not as if have bad feelings about Real and need to prove anything,' he said.[LNB]On the ball: Van der Vaart is geared up for his Bernabeu return[LNB]'I knew we were in the Champions League but it's the first time for Tottenham Hotspur and it's a really really big thing.[LNB]'We've done fantastic but I'm still surprised that we're here in the quarter-final against the biggest team in the world.[LNB]'The great thing is we have nothing to lose. It will be something special for me to be back here so quickly.[LNB]'They know the sort of player I am. I'm at Tottenham now and want to play a good game.'[LNB]Spurs have not won in five games with their last win coming away from home in the Champions League, when they beat AC Milan 1-0 at the San Siro in February.[LNB]While Redknapp's underdogs are not enjoying their best form of the season, Van der Vaart is convinced that Spurs can spring a surprise against Jose Mourinho's men.[LNB]'We've not played well the last few games but playing against Madrid is something special.
