Potential In's and Out's for Tottenham This Summer

Tottenham Hotspur fans are hoping for a big summer after watching their side fail to secure a top four position last campaign. Spurs have to settle for Europa League football yet again. The lilywhites are hoping to appoint Franco Baldini as technical director after the Italian left his post at Roma. Baldini will be at the heart off all transfers at White Hart Lane.

TOTTENHAM’S POTENTIAL SIGNINGS

Christian Benteke – Aston Villa - £30 million

After his debut season in England, Christian Benteke rocketed to the top of club’s shopping lists after he bagged 23 goals in all competitions for Aston Villa.

Spurs have shown serious interest in the Belgian forward but face a lot of competition for his signature. Atletico Madrid have lined Benteke up for a big money move to Spain as they look to replace Radamel Falcao.

It is reported that Spurs have offered England striker Jermain Defoe in a part exchange deal plus cash in order to tempt Villa into any deal. It is believed that Clint Dempsey or Emmanuel Adebayor are likely to make way for any deal.

David Villa – Barcelona - £10 million

David Villa is heading for a Barcelona exit after the Blaugrana secured the signature of Europe’s hottest prospects in Neymar. Neymar will be Lionel Messi’s partner in Barca’s attack next season and Villa is looking for the exit door.

The Spanish goal-scorer has drawn interest from Arsenal and Tottenham in a £10 million move. Villa is interested in a move to England and the North London rivals will face a battle to secure his services.

The 31 year old is one of Andre Villas-Boas’ top transfer targets as he believes the former Valencia man will fire them back into the top four next season.

Bruno Martins Indi – Feyenoord - £6 million

Tottenham want Feyenoord’s Portuguese born-Dutch centre back Bruno Martins Indi. The 21 year old is a utility man and can operate at centre back or at left back.

Tottenham have scouted the defender over the course of the season and they believe a £5.5 million transfer fee will be enough to prize the hot prospect away from the Netherlands.

It is rumoured that Tottenham are also considering signings his defensive partner, Stefan de Vrij.

TOTTENHAM’S POTENTIAL DEPARTURES

Gareth Bale – Wales - £60-85 million

Gareth Bale is set to become the centre of yet another summer long transfer saga. The Welsh international was in electric form last season as he scooped the PFA Player of the Year award and the PFA Young Player of the Year award. After Spurs failed to reach the Champions League, it is believed that Bale could seek a move to a bigger club.

Real Madrid have pursued Bale in a way similar to the Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric transfer sagas. Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy stated that the Croatian would not be leaving White Hart Lane but the Galaticos landed their man. They also struck an agreement making transfers between the two clubs a lot smoother. Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane described Bale as a player ‘more than good enough to play in the white shirt’ and is a contender for the main job at the Bernabeu. An £85 million world record transfer fee has been rumoured and it will be tough for Tottenham to reject an offer of that magnitude.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been linked with moves for the former Southampton man.

Danny Rose – England - £8 million

Danny Rose has been linked with a Tottenham exit after his loan spell at Sunderland expired.

The Black Cats have lined up an £8 million offer to take the English left back to the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis.

However, Paulo Di Canio’s side face competition for the full back from Liverpool who are interested in completing a deal for the 22 year old. The Reds are looking to offload Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique; freeing up funds to move for Rose.
