The Peterborough United director of football has been flooded with enquiries about his manager, and his two star turns following a weekend of speculation.

Speculation over the weekend linked Darren Ferguson with a move away from the club, with some reports claiming he was set to quit after the Posh's less than inspiring start to the season, whilst further speculation claimed he was being lined up to join Hull City.

"Several journalists have asked me about Darren going to Hull which is also nonsense as far as I'm concerned," said Fry.

"I spoke to Darren yesterday and obviously he is down because of the results, but he is very confident that things will turn around."

Fry also played down reports linking Tottenham with Boyd, and Middlesbrough with Mackail-Smith.

"I have had no contact from Harry Redknapp about Boyd or Gordon Strachan about Mackail-Smith so there is nothing in those reports," he said.
