Portsmouth are waiting for the money from Younes Kaboul's transfer to Tottenham Hotspur to clear into their accounts before the wages of players and staff at Fratton Park can be paid.[LNB]Spurs and Pompey are still in negotiation over the transfer of French defender Kaboul, but the south coast club are hopeful the deal can go through and the players will be paid by midnight on January 31 at the latest.[LNB] If a deal is agreed, the funds must first be paid by Tottenham to the Premier League, who then forward it to Portsmouth. It is unclear exactly how much Portsmouth would receive from the deal but they are confident it would be sufficient to cover this month's staff wages.[LNB] Centre of attention: The sale of Younes Kaboul (centre) means his team-mates can be paid[LNB] Kaboul, rated at £8million, was taken to Fratton Park by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp in August 2008 having joined Tottenham the previous summer. It is understood that Spurs are still owed £2m from that deal.[LNB] "We're not trying to buy him on the cheap," said Redknapp. "We're paying whatever the going rate is for him. I would be keen to bring him back if the deal is right for everybody."[LNB]Solid: Kaboul tussles with West Ham's Frank Nouble[LNB]Redknapp maintained he had sympathy for Portsmouth manager Avram Grant and said Tottenham had entered into negotiations for Kaboul and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with the blessing of the Israeli.[LNB] "I said if you don't want to sell them Avram we won't get involved," Redknapp added. "(Grant) said 'We need to sell them. We need to make the sales otherwise we are in trouble'."[LNB]Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has decided against walking out on the south coast strugglers but admits he and manager Avram Grant have plenty of cause to consider their futures.[LNB]The Fratton Park chief was left fuming after the club opened negotiations with Tottenham for Kaboul and Begovic without his knowledge.[LNB]Storrie told ESPN Soccernet he was no longer involved in transfer dealings at Pompey but insists neither he nor Grant intend to walk away at this stage.[LNB]"We are both angry, frustrated and fed up, but neither of us are quitters," Storrie said.[LNB]"I don't intend to quit now I've slept on it and although I cannot speak for Avram, from what we have talked about this morning I don't think he will quit either. And, let's face it, we both have good reason to walk out![LNB]"I am no longer involved in the finances, I am not involved in the transfer negotiations and Avram doesn't know what players are being sold."
