Pletikosa set to snub move to Spurs in bid to save his Spartak Moscow career

[LNB] Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa last night warned he will snub a move to Tottenham Hotspur if he can save his career at Spartak Moscow.[LNB]Harry Redknapp last summer identified the 31-year-old as the ideal candidate to press Heurelho Gomes for the No 1 spot at White Hart Lane, but a bid to sign him collapsed when Pletikosa suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in late August. [LNB]The Spurs boss has monitored the former Shakhtar Donetsk star's recovery and invited him to London before Christmas for a check-up by club doctors. [LNB] Target: Pletikosa has been on Spurs' radar since last year [LNB]Pletikosa is excited by the prospect of playing in the Barclays Premier League and believes Spurs will make another bid in July, but warned there is no guarantee he will agree to a move. [LNB]'I've always said that if I play, I don't want to leave,' he said. [LNB]'I'm happy here. Next season we will play in the Champions League, which every footballer wants to be part of. [LNB]'However, if I don't get the chance to play, then certainly in the summer I'll find a change in scenary.[LNB]'While there is no doubting Pletikosa's talent, he fell out of favour at Spartak last season because of a limit on fielding six foreigners in the Russian Premier League. [LNB]Wheeler dealer: Harry Redknapp [LNB]'Even the coach said that if there weren't restrictions on foreigners, then I would be in goal.' [LNB]Pletikosa is undergoing intense physical training and hopes to back alongside his team-mates in a fortnight. [LNB]Celtic are also tracking him, as they fear a raid for Poland keeper Artur Boruc, but it is Redknapp who has made the strongest bid to woo Croatia's No 1.[LNB]'Frankly, I have never seen a foreign coach who loves so much the players from Croatia and he has a very warm attitude to me,' said Pletikosa of a boss who already has Luka Modric, Niko Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka in his squad. [LNB]'Redknapp invited me to London for a medical examination, but my agent told him that I wouldn't be able to fully play until towards the end of February. [LNB]'On the trip, I met with Redknapp. We talked and decided that, given my injury, a transfer couldn't yet be completed. We have spoken often on the phone. He wants to see me in his team, but I told him I can only go if I'm not needed at Spartak.'[LNB] Raging Roman Pavlyuchenko just wants Spurs nightmare to be overUnsettled Chelsea star Joe Cole primed for Manchester City summer switchTottenham 0 Hull 0: Keeper Myhill saves the day for battling City Tottenham boss Redknapp is winning the £11m battle to sign Palermo's Kjaer [LNB] Explore more:People:Luka Modric, Artur Boruc, Niko Kranjcar, Harry RedknappPlaces:London, Croatia, Poland
