Gareth Bale nominated for Barclays sponsored PFA Young Player of the Year 2012
The 2010-11 season saw Bale crowned as the PFA Player of the Year, for his excellent performances for both Tottenham and Wales.
He scored his 1st goal of the 2011-2012 campaign against Wigan Athletic and scored his 2nd on October 30th against Queens Park Rangers, this was followed by another goal in the following fixture against Fulham.
Bale was on the scoresheet against Bolton Wanderers and he marked the goal with a tribute to Gary Speed by holding up his left boot, with "R.I.P Gary Speed" stitched into the side.
Over the Christmas period Bale scored twice against Norwich and on January 5th Bale was announced as one of the players voted into the UEFA Team of the Year 2011.
January was an excellent month for Bale, as well as being voted into the UEFA Team of the Year 2011, he scored his third brace of the season as he scored twice against Wigan and then it was announced he had won the January Premier League Player of the Month (for the second time in his career).
Bale has earned praise from both players and managers alike, Manchester City defender Micah Richards revealed that Gareth Bale was one of his toughest opponents he had ever faced, saying that: "He made me feel an inch tall. Took me to pieces. He just doesn’t stop running. It's ridiculous".
