Peter Crouch: Harry said I was an idiot! Spurs star also fears Fabio's reaction

Regret: Peter Crouch during England training[LNB]Peter Crouch has revealed that his manager Harry Redknapp described him as 'an idiot' after his night on the town with Tottenham team-mates last month. [LNB]The England striker admitted that he allowed the celebrations to 'escalate' when he and a group of Spurs players went clubbing after their win over Portsmouth on October 17. [LNB]Crouch admits he winced when he saw those photographs of himself hanging out of a car sunroof and he has now promised that it will not happen again before the World Cup. [LNB]He is worried about how Fabio Capello might view his escapade, and will doubtless find out this week when the England coach names his side for Saturday's friendly against Brazil in Qatar. [LNB]The timing of the incident could not have been worse for the towering forward. Three days earlier his two goals against Belarus had all but cemented his place in the squad for next summer's tournament in South Africa. [LNB]Now he only hopes Capello recognises him for the bright, articulate and thoroughly charming chap that he is. [LNB]'I'm human at the end of the day, and it is difficult keeping your head down when you're 6ft 7in,' he said. 'But it won't happen again. We went out as a team and it probably escalated a bit more than I would have planned.[LNB] 'In a World Cup year, we want to be as focused as we possibly can. I'm squirming a bit now. After a game you want to relax and unwind. It can't be football, football, football, although nothing like that would happen if there was a midweek game. [LNB] Revealed: How Sportsmail reported Crouch's night on the town with Woodgate[LNB]'Harry said, "You're an idiot, move on". That's all we needed to say about it. I don't know what Fabio would think. I've not covered myself in glory, but I haven't killed anyone.' [LNB]Crouch acknowledged Capello's very public attitude to diving and the fact that he would not want to see his England players cheating the way David Ngog did against Birmingham on Monday night. [LNB]But he did question how the nation would respond if such underhand actions secured a vital penalty for England at the World Cup. 'I've never dived but I guess it's difficult,' he said. 'When the tackle comes in and he stays on his feet, doesn't get anything and the team lose ... it's a difficult balance. [LNB]'In a World Cup, if someone took a dive and we went through, would the nation be slaughtering him?' [LNB]Defender Glen Johnson, meanwhile, pulled out of the squad last night after picking up a knock in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Birmingham.[LNB]VIDEO: England confident ahead of Brazil friendly - Crouch... Rooney would walk into Brazil team, says England midfielder LampardSo, Peter Crouch, is this the way to impress Capello and Redknapp?Spurs splash out more than United, Arsenal, Liverpool and ChelseaTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC
