Central-back Michael Dawson has won praise from team-mate Peter Crouch for his recent performances at the heart of the Tottenham Hotspur defence.

Spurs have won their last three games without conceding a goal, with Dawson particularly impressive in the hard-fought 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

Crouch told the club's official website: "We've players all around the park who can score goals and that's important, but we can't forget the lads at the back as well, in the last few games they've been fantastic, especially Michael Dawson.

"He's been top-class, brilliant. He heads everything, tackles everything, throws himself in.

"I've been back heading my fair share of balls away, but Daws does for it the whole game, every game. Blackburn was the type of match he's all about.

"You need his type of player at somewhere like Blackburn because you know he will stand up to it, he'll win his headers, win his tackles and credit to him and the defence for keeping us in the game."
