Pavlyuchenko and Bale set for Lisbon loan as Spurs target swoop for Veloso

Sporting Lisbon are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur duo Roman Pavlyuchenko and Gareth Bale on loan when the transfer window opens in January.

The Portuguese giants are also ready to use their links with Manchester United to take Zoran Tosic until the summer.

Super agent Pini Zahavi is said to be working on the deals, but Sporting may face difficulty in landing their north London targets.

Hooray, we're off to Portugal: Tottenham duo Roman Pavlyuchenko and Gareth Bale start the celebrations

Spurs are prepared to offload unhappy Russia striker Pavlyuchenko, but are holding out for cash to reinvest in other areas of the team.

Spurs bound? Miguel Veloso of Sporting Lisbon

With Harry Redknapp looking for a midfielder, Sporting could offer Portugal international Miguel Veloso in a loan exchange, while a cut-price £8million future fee for Pavlyuchenko has been mooted.

Wales international is in need of first-team football but is unlikely to be allowed a short-term move away from White Hart Lane until after the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of January.

The 20-year-old is set to deputise for impressive left back Benoit Assou Ekotto, who is part of Cameroon's squad for the tournament in Angola.

Sporting are 12 points off the top of the Portguese League table and will add Atletico Madrid's Florent Sinama Pongolle and Sporting Braga's Joao Pereira for a combined £8.1million this winter.

A deal for Tosic could be easier to conclude as the 22-year-old Serbia international has made little impact since signing for United from Partizan Belgrade in the last winter transfer window.
