Party is over as Redknapp demands his Spurs players pay £20,000 a man

Harry Redknapp has fined his Tottenham party animals but Robbie Keane will not be stripped of the captaincy over the secret trip he organised to Dublin.[LNB]Manager Redknapp called his players together before training at Spurs Lodge in an effort to draw a line under the episode and ordered the players to make a donation - thought to be around £20,000 each - to the Tottenham Foundation charity, which helps children in the local community.[LNB] Captain not so fantastic: Keane went behind Redknapp's back[LNB]The 16 players who hit the Irish capital for a drinking session stressed they had not broken any club rules by going out on a Tuesday ahead of a Saturday game, which Spurs just happened to lose 1-0 at home to struggling Wolves.[LNB]Redknapp was angry as he felt he had been misled by Keane (right), who had originally asked for the squad to be given time off for a golf day in Ireland.[LNB]The manager said last week he was 'shocked' and 'disappointed' by their antics, and also embarrassed because the story leaked just days after he had insisted publicly that his players would not be having a Christmas party.[LNB]'It is widely known I do not approve of Christmas parties and I'vealways made it clear players should only drink in moderation,' saidRedknapp after finding out about theDublin trip. 'Wednesday was their day off and Robbie told me they weregoing to Dublin to play golf. I had no problem with that.'[LNB]Bench-warmer: Keane came on as a substitute during Tottenham's 2-0 win over Blackburn [LNB]Redknapp's fury had eased considerably, however, by the time his squad reported for training yesterday, no doubt helped by a 2-0 win at Blackburn over the weekend.[LNB]Rather than attempt to storm into the meeting and hammer them all with a maximum fine of two weeks' wages, which the players would have undoubtedly resisted, a compromise deal was agreed with the idea of a charity donation.[LNB]Sources at the club claimed voices were not raised during the meeting and that the issue was dealt with amicably, but it will go down as one of football's most expensive festive celebrations of the year.[LNB]The 16 players were reported to have already paid £2,000 each for their night out and centre back Jonathan Woodgate was among those who spent thousands of pounds more to hire a private plane to cross the Irish Sea.[LNB]It is not the first time Tottenham's players have been caught partying this season. Striker Peter Crouch and Woodgate were among those photographed drinking in a London nightclub as they celebrated a win against Portsmouth in the BarclaysPremier League.[LNB]Crouch was later pictured with his head sticking out of the sunroof of a taxi and was called an 'idiot' by Redknapp.[LNB]Keane, 29, retains the captaincy at the club he rejoined from Liverpool in January, but the Republic of Ireland forward has found himself on the bench in recent weeks.[LNB]He came on at Blackburn on Saturday, when a win kept Tottenham in touch with the Premier League's top four, just two points behind Aston Villa.[LNB]Redknapp has been at pains to insist the night out in Dublin did not have any influence on the disappointing performance at homes to Wolves four days later.[LNB]But a win rather than a defeat against Mick McCarthy's relegation-threatened team would have Spurs sat in third at the moment, just five points behind leaders Chelsea.[LNB]  Keane is Spurs' odd man out as Harry admits he favours Crouch and DefoeFurious Redknapp to punish Spurs stars who held secret Christmas partySpurs stars in 'secret' Ireland jaunt amid Redknapp's Christmas party banTOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC
