Parker relishing Spurs battle

Scott Parker has revealed he thrives on having to fight for a place in Tottenham's first team and says he is enjoying life at White Hart Lane.[LNB] Parker made the move to White Hart Lane from West Ham on transfer deadline day and has made an impressive start to life with his new club.[LNB]However, he recognises that he cannot let his standards slip if he is to stay in the side as there is plenty of competition for central midfield berths.[LNB]Sandro has recovered from a knee injury and played alongside Parker in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Wigan, a combination that from manager Harry Redknapp.[LNB]"I knew when I signed for Spurs that it would be difficult and it is. I will have to work hard and prove myself to stay in the team," Parker said in the Daily Star Sunday.[LNB]"You always know when you come to a big club that there will be real competition for places and I think that's healthy.[LNB]"But I'm up for the challenge and it can only be good for the squad to have such good competition. We're all pushing each other."[LNB]Parker is desperate to maintain the form which has helped him break into the England team over the past couple of seasons.[LNB]He added: "Things have gone really well for me over the last few years. My main target is to keep fit, try to stay in the side and help as much as I can."
