England's 2018 World Cup bid have signed up Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa to be members of their 'ambassador squad'. The two Argentinians, who played for Tottenham in the 1980s, will form part of a group of more than 30 current and former players, including many foreigners who have played or are playing in England. David Beckham and Wayne Rooney are among the current stars already announced, and the full list will be unveiled in the next few weeks. Ardiles said: 'I have received a letter from Lord Triesman inviting me to join the bid team and I have accepted. Lord Triesman asked if Ricky would be interested to also help out, and he is delighted to. 'Ricky and I consider England to be our home, certainly the home of football, and although Ricky lives in Argentina now he comes over all the time and will be returning yet again next month. I am honoured to be asked and will do all I can to support the bid. In fact I believe that England will win the bid process. 'English football has the best stadia, the best supporters creating the best atmosphere, and players from all over the world, just like myself, love playing in English football given the chance.'
