Opportunity knocks

Kevin Bond insists we have a 'fantastic opportunity' to return to Wembley as we defend a 4-1 lead in our Carling Cup semi-final, second leg at Burnley on Wednesday night. However, our assistant manager has called for the lads to complete the job in a professional manner at Turf Moor as we continue the defence of the trophy won at the home of football last year. Goals from Michael Dawson, Jamie O'Hara, an own goal and Roman Pavlyuchenko completed an amazing turn around after we trailed 1-0 in the first leg at the Lane a fortnight ago. Burnley impressed in that first half and that 45 minutes should act as a stark warning of what the Championship promotion-chasers are capable of when the teams step out at Turf Moor with a final at Wembley on the line. "We've given ourselves a fantastic opportunity," said Kevin. "But if ever we needed a reminder of what could happen we only need look at the first half performance in the first leg where we could have come in more than 1-0 down. "At half-time that night, if you were predicting a result,it certainly wouldn't have been a win, let alone a 4-1 win. "It was a big turn around, a big change and a positive approach from the players. "You can't ask for more than being 4-1 up but we've 90 minutes to play and if they get a goal in front then it will be all to play for so we have to do a professional job. "It's terrific opportunity for us to make a cup final. "I'm sure Burnley will concentrate on the first 45 minutes at White Hart Lane and they will think if they can get their noses in front again, we might become edgy. As everyone knows, anything can happen in football - we have to make sure it doesn't."
