Taylor, an England Under-21 international, is almost certain to leave St James' Park and White Hart Lane may be his final destination. Taylor has claimed in recent days that he wants to stay at Newcastle help them bounce straight back up to the Premier League. But with Newcastle struggling financially, they may be forced to cash in on some of their most prized assets. Spurs are keen to add to their defensive options once the transfer window opens and Taylor, 23, would be seen as perfect cover for Ledley King, whose knee problems prevent him from playing more than one game a week. Another player based in the north east, Sunderland's former Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson, is also interesting manager Harry Redknapp, who could get the player for £8 million.
