Harry Redknapp insists that Tottenham are nowhere near to completing a deal to sign Newcastle striker Andy Carroll. [LNB]Spurs have been chasing a deal for England target-man Carroll, but Redknapp poured cold water on the transfer talk by claiming Newcastle were resisting any offers.[LNB] He said: 'I can't see Carroll coming here, he's a good player but Newcastle won't sell him.' [LNB] Won't come cheap: Redknapp suggested Carroll was valued at £30m-40m[LNB]The White Hart Lane boss also suggested that the Magpies' hefty valuation of the player put him out of Spurs' league. [LNB]Redknapp added: 'He's a good player, he's a handful, you'd like to have him in your team. But we are nowhere near getting Andy Carroll. How much is he? You are talking £30million to 40million.' [LNB]Newcastle manager Alan Pardew revealed on Sunday that he is determined to hang on to his big-name players and build the club's future around the likes of Carroll.[LNB] Pardew said: 'The most important people at the club are the players we have and who are doing well, the Andy Carrolls, [Cheik] Tiotes and Steven Taylors of this world.[LNB] Crocked: Carroll sat out Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby with a thigh injury[LNB] 'We need to make sure they stay part of the fabric of this club and we build on those with the good senior players, the Kevin Nolans, the Joey Bartons and [Steve] Harpers that we have around them. [LNB]'We have a nice balance at the moment and it's important we keep that nucleus and build on it. [LNB]'My main job so far has been to secure the nucleus rather than to build on it. [LNB]'The difficulty is that because we are a team that's not in the Champions League, we are vulnerable to Champions League teams who can pay salaries that are very difficult for us.'
