Mixed feelings for Dembele

Moussa Dembele has admitted he would have preferred to win on his Tottenham debut than score a goal, but says he was pleased to make an impact.

The Belgian playmaker came on as a half-time substitute against Norwich City on Saturday and scored a fine goal to put his new team in front. However, Robert Snodgrass' late leveller denied Spurs victory and left Dembele unable to celebrate.

It was the second time the 25-year-old had faced the Canaries already this season, having helped Fulham to a 5-0 thrashing on the opening day, and he is not sure what went wrong for Tottenham. "I played against Norwich on the opening day and I thought it was going to be another good day," he said.

"It didn't turn out as I expected and it was difficult to tell what the problem was. "I'm happy I scored but three points would have been a better start to life at Tottenham." Dembele added: "I kept an eye on how to play and what I had to do so when I came in, I did OK. "The manager said to play my game as I always play."
