Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate has undergone minor surgery on a groin injury. Woodgate, joins fellow centre back Michael Dawson (achilles) on the treatment table, and has missed much of Spurs' pre-season. Lingering doubts also remain about the fitness of injury prone Ledley King, who made a substitute appearance against Olympiakos on Sunday. 29-year-old Woodgate flew to America last month to see a specialist, but is now a major doubt for the first month of the campaign. With doubts surrounding his first-choice centre backs, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp chanced his arm in the transfer market with an £8million swoop for Newcastle's Sebastien Bassong. Woodgate will undergo a rehabilitation programme with the club's physiotherapists.
