Darren Fletcher was controversially dismissed in United's 3-1 win at Arsenal and, 24 hours later, Barcelona had Eric Abidal harshly dismissed, for a challenge on Nicolas Anelka.

"I went to the game at Stamford Bridge and it was disappointing Chelsea went out to at least two bad decisions," said Redknapp. "The referee had a nightmare on the night and got key decisions wrong.

That was scandalous, it's robbed a lad, who has been tremendous, a chance to play in the final. And the Barcelona sending off was wrong as well. "If there's any decency, both those lads should be able to play in the final, in my opinion. The referee has just made genuine mistakes and ended up having a bad night."

Those decisions apart, Redknapp is backing United to overcome Barcelona In Rome later this month and hand Sir Alex Ferguson his third success in the tournament.

"I fancy Man United to win it," insisted Redknapp. "I didn't see anything in Barcelona that they can win. United were fantastic at Arsenal and they will be too strong, too powerful, too quick.

"Messi is a great player, but you look at Ronaldo at Arsenal. To see a boy run 80 yards, make himself available, just incredible. I've seen that before. It's a great piece of film to show any player, the pace of the break, the skill and passing was amazing."
