Madrid interest in Lloris?, Krul an option for Spurs?

It looks like Tottenham's hope of Champions League football is over for another season. With the failure to be at Europe's top table, the clubs most sought after players are again linked with moves.

At the top of the list to be linked with a move (arguably second only to Jan Vertonghen) is Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman is one of the Spurs players who you could say - albeit begrudgingly - deserves Champions League Football when at the top of his game. There have been no concrete links for Lloris, but one club who may be interested is Spanish side Real Madrid. They are set to see Iker Casillas depart - after loosing his place - in the summer and that would leave just Diego Lopez at the Bernabeau. Manager Carlo Ancelotti would then have to look for another Keeper, who could step into the breach and potentially be good enough for the number one spot longer term. The right hand man to Ancelotti is of course Zinedine Zidane - a former French international. He will know only too well of Lloris' talent should Madrid need a Keeper. Whatever happens, Spurs would demand big money and want to battle to keep him.

Should Lloris end up departing White Hart Lane, don't be surprised if Tim Krul was on a list of potential replacements. The Newcastle Goalkeeper is well proven in the Premier League - which could be a key factor should Spurs be interested. After all of the clubs signings being from other leagues last Summer, Tottenham would more than likely be keen to bring in players who would settle better. With the now likely arrival of Louis Van Gaal as boss, Krul will be known to the Dutchman from his current job. A lot of ifs and nothing concrete, but something to think about for Spurs fans ahead of the inevitable Summer Rumours.
