With the brouhaha surrounding John Terry and Portsmouth on to a 37th owner this season, the Israeli's trip to a local knocking shop receives less attention today than otherwise it might. Though not in his own home you would imagine. [LNB]-- [LNB]John Terry's first of two very tricky meetings will take place tomorrow when Fabio Capello calls him in off the naughty step to explain himself. The second will come in Dubai when he meets up with the wife he is alleged to have cheated on. Guess which one he's looking forward to the least. [LNB]-- [LNB]And Real Madrid want Manchester City to go away and think long and hard about what they did after turning up hours before the deadline to the January transfer window to buy midfielder Fernando Gago without doing their homework properly or having filled in any of the required forms. Either that or they just want an extra £10m or so when City return to buy him in the summer. [LNB]--- [LNB]THAT'S MAGIC![LNB]Fabio Capello will return to England today to at least some good news. Jermain Defoe further validated the Italian's steely insistence on preferring the pocket sized striker over the darling of the English media, Michael Owen, with a hat-trick to send Tottenham past the club formally known as dirty Leeds in their FA Cup replay at Elland Road. [LNB]The fact that the England man plundered the goals that took him to 20 for the season against a League One defence and mined them from around 237 separate chances will be overlooked for now. Positives must be seized and nurtured like precious flowers these days within team England. [LNB]The defeat brought an end to a strange and troubling love affair with all things Leeds United that has sent the neutral football fan in to paroxysms of confusion, doubt and discomfort. [LNB]This year's FA Cup has so far been a cracker, and much of that has been down to the Yorkshire club. Leeds as everyone's favourite second team, the plucky underdogs sticking it to the man, romance in the wintry chill of West Yorkshire? These are indeed bizarre days and the warmth that has been directed towards Elland Road over the last month has been a sorcery of such proportions as to be the competition's finest magic trick to date. [LNB]Leeds return to battle with Charlton for the runners up spot in League One behind Norwich City while Tottenham progress to a match against Bolton in a tournament shorn of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. No wonder Harry Redknapp was beaming with self satisfaction after the game and generously noted that Defoe 'could have scored six' rather than 'should have scored six'. [LNB]Where the romance will come from now Leeds have made their dignified exit is anyone's guess, but there is reason to believe it is still to be had. [LNB]There will be no love lost at St Mary's when Portsmouth make the short journey to Southampton for a lunchtime kick-off in the next round but plenty of pantomime drama for the neutral. And anyone searching for a team to adopt as the Cinderella side need look no further than Crystal Palace, who could do with the loose change that comes from a couple of sell out matches against Premier League sides. [LNB]Simon Jordan and Neil Warnock make for the perfect ugly sisters, too. [LNB]--- [LNB]Follow thedailybung on Twitter.
