Kranjcar hails Pompey fans

Niko Kranjcar has paid tribute to the Fratton Park faithful after quitting Portsmouth for Spurs. The Croatia midfielder clinched a White Hart Lane move on transfer deadline day in a deal reported to be worth £2.5m. The move ended a three-year spell at the club in which during which he made 100 appearances and scored 12 goals. He was also part of the team which clinched the FA Cup in 2008. "I had a great time at Portsmouth and achieved some fantastic things, like winning the FA Cup and leading the club into Europe for the first time," Kranjcar said. "I will always be grateful to Portsmouth because they gave me my first opportunity to play in the Premier League. "The supporters made me very welcome when I first came over and always took me into their hearts so I would like to thank them for that. It is going to be a tough season but I hope they keep fighting until the end."
