KlassJan Huntelaar closer to Tottenham move in January

The Dutchman was linked with a move to White Hart Lane in the summer, and his failure to score for Milan this season has further fuelled speculation that he could join Spurs in the January window. [LNB]Any such move could see Roman Pavlyuchenko, who has failed to settle under manager Harry Redknapp, move to Italy, while Welsh defender Gareth Bale could also be included in the swap transfer. [LNB]Bale has also struggled to break into the Spurs side but the Welshman, who can also play in midfielder, is highly regarded. [LNB]Huntelaar, nicknamed 'The Hunter', was a prolific striker during his days with Ajax and Real Madrid, while with Holland he has scored 14 goals in 25 games. [LNB]But since arriving at Milan, following the departure of Kaka to Real Madrid, Huntelaar has failed to impress and there is a growing move for a new striker with many believing that Pavlyuchenko, who has similarly disappointed at Spurs, could be the answer. [LNB]One move that is less likely is the arrival, at Spurs, of Portsmouth goalkeeper David James. [LNB]James was linked with a move to Spurs before the summer deadline and reports have claimed that Harry Redknapp is preparing a £1m move for his former goalkeeper in the new year. [LNB]Tottenham are refusing the comment but it is understood that Redknapp will keep faith with Brazilian Heurelho Gomes and Italian Carlo Cudicini, at least until the end of the season. [LNB]Gomes began the season as first choice but in only the second game of the season, at Hull, he damaged a groin muscle and has lost his place to Cudicini. When Gomes was injured, Spurs recalled Ben Alnwick from a loan spell at League 1 Carlisle. He then signed former West Ham goalkeeper Jimmy Walker, available after being released, as cover. [LNB]
