Ledley King believes Tottenham can become a 'top side' if they find more consistency next season.
Spurs have had to battle hard just to avoid relegation this term after making a disastrous start to their campaign.
They have not been helped by a poor away record but there have been signs of a significant improvement in recent weeks.
Tottenham are also unbeaten in the league against the UEFA Champions League teams and King is looking to challenge for a top-four spot in the future.
"With the players we have, I don't see why we can't do that," said the defender.
"We haven't lost to Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea in the league this season.
"That proves we can compete and perform, it is just the consistency. If we can get consistency, win games and pick up points away from home on a regular basis, we can be a top side."
Harry Redknapp agrees with King and will be setting ambitious targets for next season if Spurs can keep hold of their top players.
The manager said: "The size of this club, the potential, the fan base and the money invested, we should be pushing to get up there shouldn't we?
"There's no point me taking the easy way out and saying 'top half next year', I want to be pushing."
