King: I'll still be playing in 2012
Ledley King has given Tottenham a huge lift by revealing his intention to play beyond 2012, when the club's new training complex is planned to be completed.[LNB] The 28-year-old centre-back undergoes his own fitness regime to manage a chronic knee condition and this season he has started four out of five matches and is expected to feature against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.[LNB] King, when asked if he would be still be playing in 2012, said: "Yes. You look at some of the facilities that will be at the club and you want to still be a part of it." [LNB] Spurs boss Harry Redknapp often highlights the difference between a team with King in the defence and a side without him.[LNB] His importance to Spurs was also highlighted by the fact that he was referred to as the club captain this week at Bulls Cross for the start of work at the new training complex, despite Robbie Keane leading the team out.[LNB] Keane was given the armband as King could not guarantee playing in all games. With Michael Dawson and Jonathan Woodgate injured, it has increased the pressure on King getting himself ready for matches this season.[LNB] "It does increase the pressure all week hoping that he will be fit," Redknapp said. "I have (Vedran) Corluka, (Sebastien) Bassong and Ledley, and suddenly you are not overloaded. Tom (Huddlestone) can play there at a pinch, quite well. But we need Dawson and Woodgate back."[LNB] It has not stopped Spurs starting the season with four wins and last week's defeat to Manchester United, with a daunting trip to Chelsea next. Spurs have not won there since 1990.[LNB] "We know Chelsea's players well enough and we've all seen their quality," King said. "It's always a tough game against them.[LNB] "But we have done well against them in recent games and they will be aware of our qualities as well. However, we take one season and one game at a time. This is no doubt one they will want to win being at home."
