The England international hailed the way in which he saw Spurs 'dig in' before they played football in the 2-1 victory at the KC Stadium.
King is fully confident Spurs will stay up, but he insists they need to show that determination away from home for the rest of the season.
"We did the dirty work well and then tried to get the ball down and play," King told Spurs' official website.
"That's how we have to play away from home.
"We had to deal with a lot of aerial balls, they were a threat, we rolled our sleeves up and did that and were then brave enough to try and play as well.
"That was important, not to get caught up in their style of football, we had to stick to ours.
"We had a good mix on the night and it was a massive win for us."
