Khumalo confident of instant impact

ew Spurs signing Bongani Khumalo says he can play a part in Harry Redknapp's first-team plans when he arrives at White Hart Lane in January.[LNB] The South Africa centre back's £1.5 million transfer was confirmed this week although he will not be able to join Spurs until the winter transfer window.[LNB]And despite facing competition from William Gallas, Ledley King, Michael Dawson and Sebastien Bassong he is confident of becoming a key part of the Spurs squad.[LNB]"At 23, I think I'm ready to challenge for a place in the first team," he told BBC Sport.[LNB]"It may take a bit of time to settle in but I've played at the World Cup and I have the confidence in my ability to play in the Premier League.[LNB]"Harry Redknapp's shown a lot of faith in my ability and I hope to be able to repay that."[LNB]He added: "I think the manager is hoping I will be able to fit in to his plans straight away and I believe I'm good enough to do that."[LNB]
