Kane, Sanchez, Hazard and Co likely contenders for Premier League player of the season

With Player of the Season voting soon to commence there seem to be four main contenders for the prize. They are from four different sides and have all set themselves apart from the rest of the league based on their consistent performances and the impact, which they have made on their respective club sides. The winner is almost certainly to come from one of the four of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez. But, although I do not have a favorite yet, I want to shed some light as to why Harry Kane might jut be the best pick of the lot.

Harry Kane has had a breakout season. With 14 goals in 22 Premier League games, from 16 starts, his return has propelled Spurs into the top four mix. The Spurs striker has also netted three in five, from four starts, to propel his side into the final of The League Cup on Sunday. In addition, his six goals in seven games, from five starts, in the Europa League has kept Tottenham fighting on three fronts this season. They will be looking to win The League Cup, The Europa League and break into the top four come the end of the season. Harry Kane, albeit with the help of Christian Eriksen, has been the key figure in ensuring that Spurs have something to fight for until May. The performances from Kane have been there since, very nearly, the beginning of this season. What might be even more impressive is how he has become a leader in the Spurs dressing room and amongst the Tottenham fans. He is very much a voice that has emerged to guide his teammates season and I think this really showed through after their shock 5-3 home win over Chelsea. This season Harry Kane has taken Spurs to a place that, I think any impartial fan could agree, were not necessarily meant to be this season and it has been very impressive to watch. An England call up surely looms. Kane will surely win the Young Player of the Season award. His performances between now and the end of voting could see him grab both in my opinion. But, it will definitely depend on where Spurs stand and how he has contribute to that standing.

Alexis Sanchez, with 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season for Arsenal, has had an exceptional first campaign. I do not think many people would have expected him to start so quickly. He has provided Arsenal with energy and pace and it is a little scary to think about where Arsenal could be without some of the performances that they have had from him. The only reason I am not fully convinced, remember I do not have a favorite quite yet, that he will win is because I do not think Arsenal are anywhere that they would not have been expected to be at this point in the season. If anything they are underachieving in the league yet again. But, last 16 in The Champions League and last eight in the FA Cup have to be considered par for the course if Arsenal have any ambition whatsoever. Thus, although he has been a revelation, Sanchez has not quite had the impact on his side that many are so enthusiastic in praising.

Sergio Aguero has been Sergio Aguero. Twenty-three goals from 31 games, 24 starts and a further six assists means that his return has been second to none. Another injury spell will have seen some voters leave his camp but since his arrival to Manchester no other player has had as big an impact as Aguero on their sides performances and for that matter their history. There is no reason to suggest that the Argentine has no chance to win Player of the Season this season.

Eden Hazard, many peoples favorite as well, has an impact on his side that super exceeds his statistical return. He has started every league game for Chelsea this season and has registered nine goals and six assists. He has 10 assists and 13 goals in all competitions. But, what makes him so special is the fact that he creates so many opportunities. He is not afraid to take a shot; even his missed ones tend to lead to chances. He wins penalties, makes long solo runs and also wins fouls. There is no player in the league who plays in a more positive manner than Eden Hazard which is why, even though his stats seem lower than the strikers, naturally they will be because he is more of a winger, he is still many peoples favorite.

Two players that some people might feel should win this season that I have not mentioned are Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic. These two could easily be in the argument. But, based on where they play and the jobs they do for their side, I think that this season’s award might be a reach.
