Jordan wants Spurs consistency

Assistant boss Joe Jordan says Tottenham must be more consistent, especially after European games, if they are to finish in the top four again.[LNB] Spurs earned their first Premier League victory in five games with a 4-2 demolition of Blackburn at White Hart Lane.[LNB]Two goals from man of the moment Gareth Bale, plus others from Roman Pavlyuchenko and England international Peter Crouch sealed a fine display for Harry Redknapp's side.[LNB]Rovers reduced the deficit in the 79th minute when David Dunn's shot was deflected in off Ryan Nelsen and Gael Givet hammered home a last-minute effort but it was all too late.[LNB]Tottenham's glorious 3-1 home win over Inter Milan in the Champions League was followed by a 4-2 defeat at Bolton and a 1-1 home draw with Sunderland and Jordan admits it is something they have to look at.[LNB]"It is something we have got to improve on," said Jordan. "After the last European night a lot of teams struggled a bit. Chelsea did, we certainly did, Man Utd got a late goal and Arsenal got beaten at home. It is something that is an extra demand.[LNB]"We want to get into the top four. We are enjoying what rewards we have got from the opportunities to play against teams like Inter Milan and Werder Bremen.[LNB]"But to do that again we have got to show consistency and in the games that we have not collected the points, we have not been consistent.[LNB]"Successful teams are those that when they are not playing as well as they can, still win the game. On one or two occasions in those batch of games we have not done that.[LNB]"Our fourth place last season was merited. We have not picked up the points this season that I think our play deserves. There has been a lot of good football played both home and away."[LNB]It was another top performance from Wales international Bale that defeated Rovers.[LNB]He headed Spurs in front in the 16th minute and crossed for Pavlyuchenko to make it two four minutes before the break.[LNB]Crouch made it three when he pounced on a mistake by Givet in the second half and Bale wrapped the game up with his second in the 76th minute.[LNB]The 21-year-old appears to be unstoppable but Spurs right-back Alan Hutton believes opponents will soon put two men on him in a bid to stop his devastating runs down the left flank.[LNB]However, Hutton thinks that will leave more space for other players in the side to make an impact.[LNB]"Gareth has been phenomenal over the last few weeks and a lot of our attacks have come down the left," says Hutton. "But it won't always happen that way and I am always ready to play my part when the ball comes my way.[LNB]"Teams will have noticed how well Gareth has been playing, they will see him powering up and down the wing and will look to double up on him, which will create space for other players in our side."
