Jol maintains English dream

Martin Jol has reiterated his desire to return to management in England. The likeable Dutchman left Tottenham in 2007 when he was replaced by Juande Ramos, despite leading Spurs to two fifth-place finishes in the Premier League. He was soon appointed boss at Hamburg and has made a big impact at the Nordbank Arena. But Jol has never hidden his desire to return to England, and speaking ahead of the first leg of Hamburg's Uefa Cup quarter-final with Manchester City, he confirmed that remained an ambition. "I want to build a good side at Hamburg and stay here for another one or two seasons," he said. "I still have my house in England. So if there was a very good opportunity, maybe a club with ambitions of Europe, I would certainly think about it." Jol also remains proud of his achievements at White Hart Lane. "It was almost a miracle we finished in the top five two years in a row. We did a good job," he maintains. "(Chairman) Daniel Levy wants Champions League football, that is clear. "Harry [Redknapp] knows he has a very good side but I had a very good squad as well. "If he gets time, Spurs have got the resources and they can build a great team. But getting in the top four is very difficult."
