Jermain Defoe tells Spurs: I want to end my playing days at White Hart Lane

All good: Defoe is loving life at White Hart Lane[LNB]Jermain Defoe handed Tottenham a massive boost ahead of their first home Champions League match by admitting he wants to finish his career at the club.[LNB]The striker will be watching from the sidelines when FC Twente visit White Hart Lane for their Group A encounter as an ankle injury prevents him from facing the Dutch side. [LNB]Defoe, 27, is making good progress in his recovery and and is now ready to commit himself to the north Londoners. [LNB]He said: 'Everything about the club tells you they are going in the right direction and I want to remain a part of that. I want to stay for the rest of my career because I believe Tottenham will go on to establish themselves in the top four under Harry Redknapp.[LNB] 'We may have injuries but it says so much about the depth and the strength of our squad that we can still go into this game against Twenteconfident of our chances. [LNB]'From front to back we have quality players, internationals, who can make the difference at the top level. [LNB]'We also have a manager in Harry that has shown himself to be right up there with the best in the business.[LNB] 'You'd have to crazy not to want to stay a part of that.' [LNB] Big loss: Sharp shooter Defoe (left) has been out of action since early September[LNB]Defoe was ruled out for three months after picking up his injury on England duty at the start of September but despite his frustration he insists he will be careful about his comeback. [LNB]He added: 'I'm not going to rush things because the club have had enough injuries without me breaking down again by coming back before I'msupposed to. [LNB]'But I am looking forward to coming back and helping Tottenham and England towards their targets in the second half of the season. In the meantime I'll be cheering on the boys like every other Spurs fan.' [LNB]Redknapp said: 'With Jermain out you miss 20 goals a year for a start. He will score every other game and obviously you miss him when hedoesn't play. Now it is up to other players to weigh in with goals.'
