Jermain Defoe may not need groin operation

Jermain Defoe has given England manager Fabio Capello a boost ahead of next month's Euro 2012 qualifers after Tottenham claimed he may not need to have a groin operation.[LNB]Defoe was scheduled to go under the knife next Tuesday and was expected to be out for up to four weeks.[LNB]It meant Capello would be without the 27-year-old for England's two games against Bulgaria and Switzerland next month.[LNB] On the mark: Defoe gave positive assessment on the injury after Spurs' victory[LNB]But Defoe's club manager, Harry Redknapp, has revealed the strikergave a positive assessment of the injury after Tuesday night's 4-0 winover Young Boys which he scored with England team-mate Peter Crouchgrabbing a hat-trick.[LNB]Redknapp said: 'Jermain feels okay so there's a chance it may not happen.
