Howe hails returning Bond

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has thanked former Cherries boss and current Spurs assistant Kevin Bond for helping him step onto the management ladder. Bond, who returns to Dean Court on Friday with his Tottenham squad for a pre-season friendly for the first time since being sacked 11 months ago, handed Howe his first managerial post when he promoted him to Bournemouth reserve-team boss in December 2006. Howe told the Daily Echo: "I've got a lot to thank Kevin for. We got on very well while he was here and I respected him immensely from his time at Portsmouth as well. "We had many deep conversations about the game and our views on it. He recognised the fact my career was coming to an end and offered me the job as reserve-team manager. "It was a start into coaching and a first step on the ladder. I can't thank him enough for giving me that opportunity."
