Hot shot Defoe is in a class of his own, raves Spurs legend Perryman

Tottenham Hotspur legend Steve Perryman hailed Jermain Defoe as 'different class' as Spurs enjoy their best start to a season since 1960. The former White Hart Lane captain, now director of football at League One Exeter City, also believes the relationship between manager Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy is crucial to the club's success. Defoe continued his fine scoring run by netting in the 2-1 win at West Ham and Perryman thinks the pint-sized England international makes up for his height in other ways. Perryman said: 'When you are small you have to have something special about you, be it Billy Bremner's heart, Johnny Giles' passing ability or Ossie Ardiles' strong-willed mentality. Defoe has blistering pace and supreme finishing.
