Heurelho Gomes dreaming of Wembley as Spurs keeper targets Champions League final

Heurelho Gomes is already eyeing Wembley after helping Tottenham seal their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League. [LNB]Wednesday night saw Spurs ensure qualification from Group A with a game to spare courtesy of a thumping 3-0 win over Werder Bremen. [LNB]This season's final will be played at Wembley and goalkeeper Gomes can think of no bigger incentive for Spurs to continue their fairytale first season in the competition. [LNB] It's just over there: Gomes would love to make the short trip to Wembley next May[LNB]But the Brazil international believes his side's best chance of going far in the Champions League lies in finishing top of the group. [LNB]Asked if he was already thinking of Wembley, Gomes said: 'A little bit. The next step is Twente first and then, of course, we need to be prepared for the next one. [LNB]'For the English teams, it is so special when you play at Wembley.'[LNB] Spurs have taken Europe's premier club competition by storm, scoring bucketloads of goals. But keeping them out at the other end is Gomes' main job and he was delighted to have recorded a clean sheet on Wednesday night after Tottenham had gone 17 games without one. [LNB]'Finally,' joked the 29-year-old, who insisted he was never worried about the statistic.[LNB] [LNB] Happy days: Spurs have beaten Blackburn, Arsenal and Bremen in their last three[LNB]'Of course not; the most important thing for me is winning. It's a great feeling after you keep a clean sheet but you just try to win games.'[LNB] The last-16 draw could see Tottenham paired with one of the giants of European football. [LNB]But Gomes is not afraid of any of them, adding: 'If you want to go far, to be the best, you need to fight anyone.'[LNB] That includes in the Barclays Premier League, with Spurs hosting Liverpool on Sunday. [LNB]'It's busy, busy, busy,' said Gomes, who believes he and his team-mates will carry the euphoria from Wednesday night into that match.
