Tottenham have confirmed head of recruitment Paul Mitchell is to leave the club "at a future date to be mutually agreed" after two years in the job.

Mitchell joined Spurs in November 2014, following manager Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton.

During his time in north London, the 34-year-old helped bring the likes of England midfielder Dele Alli and Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld to White Hart Lane.

A statement on Tottenham's official website read: "The club can confirm that Paul Mitchell, head of recruitment, will be leaving the club at a future date to be mutually agreed."

Chairman Daniel Levy said: "Mitch has been with us for two years and created a well staffed department and run our recruitment processes for the past two years.

"We understand and respect his wish to consider new avenues. The priority right now is the final few weeks of the transfer window.

"I know that, whilst most of our business has been completed, Mitch is keen to ensure we start the season in the best position."

Mitchell has been linked with a similar role at Premier League champions Leicester, who lost Steve Walsh to Everton earlier in the summer.

Mitchell said of his time at Spurs: "I have greatly enjoyed my time at the club and it will continue to be my sole focus until such time as I move on to new challenges."
