HATCHET MAN: Are you having a laugh, Spurs? £8m for Huddlestone is rich, even if we weren't in rece

Six? Make that £8m: Spurs want a wedge to see the back of Huddlestone No one expected this summer's transfer window to be hit by the recession, but if Tom Huddlestone is worth £8million prices are going mad again. That is the figure Wolves were quoted when they made an inquiry about the Tottenham midfielder, a player who has no meaningful future at White Hart Lane under Harry Redknapp. At 22, whoever gets him will be buying potential and that comes at a premium. Huddlestone has a reasonable amount of Barclays Premier League experience too but when you think that Liverpool expect to pay about £10m for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry, an established England international, it makes Spurs look either greedy or unrealistic.
