Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has admitted he is now in the market for a new centre-back.
Redknapp had no plans to purchase a centre-half this summer but injuries to key personnel have altered his plans.
Michael Dawson (Achilles), Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Ledley King (knee) are all currently sidelined.
Redknapp said: "We weren't thinking of buying anyone in defence but suddenly this problem has come up all of a sudden and it leaves us short," said Redknapp.
"Suddenly your priorities change and you think maybe we'll have to do something about getting a centre-half in for the start of the season because we have no central defenders."
Spurs finished eighth in the Premier League last season after Redknapp helped turn the club's fortunes around following a rotten start by former boss Juande Ramos.
