Harry Redknapp on warpath over Spurs players' Dublin Christmas party
The Tottenham manager insisted on Dec 11 that he would not allow his team to hold a Christmas party, but it has now emerged that the majority of his first team squad had been clubbing late into the night in Dublin just three days earlier. [LNB]The embarrassment for the club was made worse by Spurs' subsequent 1-0 defeat against Wolves at White Hart Lane and Redknapp admitted he was 'shocked' to learn of the secret. [LNB]'I haven't had any negative reports about what went on but they didn't ask my permission so they have to take the consequences, which they will do.'[LNB]Redknapp refused to elaborate on the punishments his players could face, but captain Robbie Keane is believed to have organised the trip to his homeland and could be first in the firing line. [LNB]Coming shortly after Stoke manager Tony Pulis fell out with James Beattie over a Christmas party, Redknapp is surprised footballers seem so keen to party during a busy fixture schedule. [LNB]He added: 'If you're a footballer you can't do it because there is somebody there waiting to take pictures of you. Everybody is waiting to catch you out. [LNB]'They have to understand that. They get very, very well paid and they can't do it. You can't leave yourself open because everybody now has a camera and everybody is waiting to find out where you are. [LNB]'I will talk to them on Monday about it and we'll sort it out. I don't sympathise with them, that's part of the territory. It's what you get. [LNB]'I'm a football manager. I wouldn't go out, get drunk and start falling around or pulling some old slag tomorrow night. I wouldn't do that, I'm not that stupid.'[LNB]Redknapp takes his side to Blackburn on Saturday and will continue with the little and large strike force of Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch, who took Manchester City apart in Wednesday night's 3-0 win.
