Harry Redknapp brands Spurs boo boys 'idiots' for jeering his entertainers
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has criticised supporters who jeered his side off at half-time against Fulham and has told the 'few idiots' to remember the season they have had. [LNB]Redknapp was angered by booing from Spurs fans before his men turned the tie around and reached the FA Cup semi-final with a 3-1 win, keeping them on track for a memorable season as they are in pole position to qualify for the Champions League. [LNB]If they defeat Portsmouth at White Hart Lane at the weekend Spurs will remain in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League, a contrast to last season when they were battling against relegation before Redknapp's arrival. [LNB]'If you want to be entertained, come and watch Tottenham play. You always get people who don't understand the game. You could be playing badly and winning 1-0 and they don't moan. [LNB]'They see the scoreboard and react because the team are losing. Ninety-nine per cent of the fans are fantastic; it's only a few idiots. [LNB]'It's happening all over the place at the moment. It's happened to Martin O'Neill at Aston Villa in recent games if they haven't been ahead at half-time.'[LNB]Redknapp believes Spurs have had a successful season even if they fall short in their bid to break into the top four. [LNB]Hitting out: Redknapp[LNB]He said: 'Whatever we achieve, it has been a great season. We're fourth in the league and in an FA Cup semi-final. The race for fourth is so tight, that any of the four teams could easily finish fourth or seventh. We're just lucky Everton appear to have started their run a bit late in the season. [LNB]'Liverpool have great fixtures in the run-in, and they could be favourites to finish fourth even though they're a few points behind us. I can't see them losing too many games in the run-in. [LNB]'Manchester City and Villa are in there but we're playing very well and we're in there with a good chance.'[LNB]Their progress this season has come despite a long injury list. [LNB] Vedran Corluka picked up an ankle injury against Fulham and joins Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate, Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas and Jermain Defoe on the sidelines. [LNB]'JJ has had a bit of a setback,' Redknapp said. 'He is sore and has had to take a backward step. He's still getting a bit of pain after the hernia operation.'[LNB]Sebastien Bassong, Wilson Palacios, Kyle Walker and Roman Pavlyuchenko also need checks on injuries before facing Redknapp's former club.
