Harry praises 'difficult' Bolton

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp praised opponents Bolton after the two teams shared the spoils at the Reebok Stadium. The hosts were dominant for large spells of the game and Redknapp's high-flying side were forced to come from behind twice in order to earn a point. After being outplayed in the first half, the visitors produced a much-improved performance after the break and even had chances to win it in the closing stages. Redknapp admitted that his side struggled to cope with Bolton's tactics early on but was pleased with the way Spurs fought their way back into the game. "They're difficult to play against, they make it difficult for you," the veteran manager told Sky Sports. Tactics"They set out today with two wide men, one striker, they had an extra man in midfield so got outnumbered a little bit in there. "They pressed us, worked us, made it difficult to play really, (in the) first half it was hard to find space to play through them, they sit a man in-front who protects the back four as well so it was difficult. "But I thought (in the) second half we got to grips with it a bit more and got stronger and got on top. "I thought when we went behind we showed a lot of character to come back and we had some good opportunities at the end." Much of the hosts' threat came from set-pieces, with the aerial presence of Kevin Davies causing problems in the Spurs defence. Redknapp was well aware of the threat before the match but still saw his side struggle in set-piece situations during the contest. "I said before the game: 'The most important thing is not to foul'," he added. Threat"You can't afford to give free-kicks away anywhere on the pitch because it's going to come in your box and they're going to load the box and it's difficult to deal with. "Gary's got them really well organised and they know what they're doing so they make it difficult for you. "Every time we gave a free-kick away, even a throw-in, it was a problem again. "Long throws at the end, the ball's coming in, getting flicked on by Kevin Davies, it was difficult to deal with." The former Portsmouth boss singled out makeshift centre-back Tom Huddlestone, as well as Bolton captain Davies, for praise. "I think today it was a good test of character for us, away from home," Redknapp said. "We've got some key players missing as well and Tom Huddlestone played centre-half today as he did last week and did excellent again. "He's been in great form for us and so it was a big test for them at the back, Kevin Davies is a threat to anybody. "No-one gets an easy game with him, he's a real handful, old-fashioned centre-forward if you like, and it's difficult to play against him but we coped well in the end."
