Harry hails lads' resolve
Harry Redknapp praised the 'fantastic character' of the team after we came from a goal behind to take a point and ultimately deserve all three in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Portsmouth.
It was an enthralling encounter at the Lane that had just about everything with chances galore and both goalkeepers in fine form.
David James picked up the Man of the Match Award after making at least three top-drawer saves to deny Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon and Ledley King.
When he was beaten, Sean Davis cleared Vedran Corluka's header off the line and Darren Bent angled the best chance of the game just wide from close range.
Despite the disappointment of not bagging all three points, the draw lifted us up to 16th in the Barclays Premier League.
"I was well pleased," said Harry. "I thought we showed fantastic character to come back from 1-0 down and we bombarded them at the end and finished much the stronger.
"I've been in this situation many times before and seen players and teams who suddenly go under when things aren't going well.
"We didn't do that. We showed character and came back stronger than ever.
"We pushed on, got an equaliser and should have won the game. There was only going to be one winner. They were hanging on for dear life."
The draw and performance came despite losing Roman Pavlyuchenko just before the half-hour with an ankle injury and skipper Ledley King just before half-time with a hamstring problem.
Heurelho Gomes was also struggling with a thigh strain - so much so, defenders had to take his goal-kicks - and Harry revealed that another two players were carrying knocks.
Harry added: "At half-time I came in and there were three lads that the physios wanted to take off, all with injuries.
"I'd already lost two players in the first half and then Aaron Lennon had a groin strain that they felt might go at any time, Corluka had a thigh strain and the keeper started the game with an injury.
"Pavlyuchenko got a kick on the ankle, I don't think it's too serious, but Ledley came off with a hamstring and he won't play for a long time."
