Harry delight at Modric deal
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes the club's hierarchy have performed a 'marvellous job' in securing Luka Modric to a six-year contract.[LNB] It was announced on Sunday afternoon that the Croatian playmaker had committed his future to White Hart Lane until 2016 and had therefore ignored interest from Manchester United in the process.[LNB]Redknapp had remained adamant for a number of months that he did not want to sell Modric and his stance was reinforced after Tottenham qualified for next season's UEFA Champions League via a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League.[LNB]Chairman Daniel Levy travelled to Croatia over the weekend to hold talks with Modric to underline Spurs' desire to secure the 24-year-old, and Redknapp is understandably pleased that an agreement was reached.[LNB]The Tottenham boss told Sky Sports News of the former Dinamo Zagreb player: "He has always been happy at the club. He is a fantastic player, he is a great lad.[LNB]"He comes in every day and trains hard, works hard. He is low maintenance.[LNB]"To have him tied up for six years, the chairman has done a marvellous job in doing that deal with him."[LNB]Redknapp added: "He could play in any team in the world in my opinion and you have got to keep your best players."[LNB]Tottenham are expected to make changes to their squad over the summer as they prepare for the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League.[LNB]Redknapp has admitted in the past that he wants to strengthen his squad, but he has also confessed that he does not expect to spend large amounts of money.[LNB]The 63-year-old is still keen to make alterations to his playing staff and has drawn a list of possible transfer targets ahead of a scouting trip to the World Cup, however, he claims he is not on the verge of any new signings.[LNB]"We are not close to doing anything really," Redknapp said. "We have got a good squad. I think, if we are going to push on and take that extra step and be where we are and even higher next year, then we do need to improve in one or two areas and strengthen the squad.[LNB]"At the moment I couldn't say that we are close to doing anything. I am going out to the World Cup, we will keep watching games, we have got some players on the list. But we are not really close to doing anything at the moment."
