Hammer time - Capello ready to call on West Ham hot shot Cole to face Spain

Flying high: Carlton Cole celebrates scoring for West Ham against Fulham (below) Capello names his squad on February 7 and might fancy Cole as back-up in the role that Wigan's Emile Heskey has made his own, though he faces a rival in Portsmouth's Peter Crouch. Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, Newcastle's Michael Owen and Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor are the contenders for the other striking berths. Capello has been reluctant to select Owen, but the former Real Madrid and AC Milan coach saw the 29-year-old in action at Blackburn at the weekend. However, Newcastle were so poor during their 3-0 defeat that Owen had little chance to catch the eye.   More...
