Grant backs Redknapp for England

West Ham manager Avram Grant thinks Harry Redknapp should be the man to replace Fabio Capello when the Italian leaves his post in 2012.[LNB] The former Real Madrid boss, who led England through a disappointing World Cup campaign, confirmed after this week's impressive 3-1 victory in Switzerland he will step down following the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine in two years' time.[LNB]The Football Association are determined to appoint an Englishman in Capello's place and bookmakers have made Spurs boss Redknapp favourite for the position.[LNB]Redknapp, who led Spurs to a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League last year, admitted yesterday he would not turn down the offer to manage his country.[LNB]Steve Bruce and Roy Hodgson would also be leading contenders for the post but Grant, who worked alongside Redknapp at Portsmouth reckons the 63-year-old would be the perfect replacement for Capello.[LNB]"The next England manager has to be Harry Redknapp," said Grant.[LNB]"Redknapp knows about the football, the English mentality, how to get the best from the players.[LNB]"Capello has said he will finish his job in 2012 but this is the time to give it to Redknapp.[LNB]"From now on every body will speculate who will be the next manager.[LNB]"The FA should take this decision and in my opinion it should be Redknapp.[LNB]I have worked with him I know how good he is, he knows how to get the best from the English players, he can do the job."
