Gomes warning for Man City

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has warned Manchester City that money is no guarantee of success.[LNB] The Blues have been busy in the transfer market this summer, splashing the cash in an effort to close on the Premier League's top four.[LNB]They were pipped to a Champions League spot by Spurs last season and are determined to avoid missing out again in 2010/11.[LNB]There will, however, be plenty of other sides looking to join European football's top table this time around, with Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton all harbouring realistic ambitions.[LNB]Tottenham have no intention of surrendering their spot either and Brazilian goalkeeper Gomes has told City that their big-spending approach could be their undoing.[LNB]He believes team spirit is more important that star names and thinks it will take time for the Blues' new-look side to gel.[LNB]"You never win things with big names alone, you need to do it as a team, not only as names," said Gomes.[LNB]"They have lots of big-name players, but last season I don't think they performed at their best.[LNB]"With the players Manchester City have, they need to do better than they did last season.[LNB]"If they put all their names on the pitch and work as a team, then it will be a great team."
