Gio out to impress Redknapp

Giovani Dos Santos is determined to kick-start his Tottenham career once he shakes off an ankle injury. The Mexican youngster has endured a troubled time at White Hart Lane since completing an eagerly-anticipated switch from Barcelona in the summer of 2008. He struggled to make an impact England upon his arrival and was eventually loaned out to Championship outfit Ipswich Town in March 2009. The 20-year-old is determined to prove his worth in the Premier League, though, and had looked bright in the outings he was awarded at the start of this season, both domestically and internationally. He picked up an untimely knock during a Carling Cup clash at Preston in September, but has already set his sights on forcing his way into Harry Redknapp's plans on a regular basis once he regains full match fitness. "I've had a scan and am hoping I can get back in a couple of weeks," Dos Santos said. "It is very frustrating that I got a start but had to come off after just 15 minutes. I really want to show what I am capable of doing. "I'm not saying I should be chosen ahead of (Jermain) Defoe, (Peter) Crouch or (Robbie) Keane. But I've been in good form, doing well at training and waiting to take any opportunity. "Harry Redknapp is a great manager and I'm hoping he will give me some more minutes on the pitch when I'm fit. This season I'm stronger mentally and physically."
