Gareth Bale will be a Spurs legend, insists Harry Redknapp

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has backed Gareth Bale to establish himself as a Spurs great after watching him pick up the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award.[LNB] The 21-year-old was tonight voted by his peers as the best player in the country after a string of outstanding performances for the north London club this season.[LNB] It has not all been plain sailing for the Bale, however, after he struggled with form and fitness after joining from Southampton in 2007. [LNB] Touching greatness: Gareth Bale made his name as a player of the highestclass with his one-man demolition job on Inter Milan earlier this season[LNB]The Wales international, though, has completed a remarkable turnaround and  became only the fourth Tottenham player to win the crown, following in the footsteps of Pat Jennings, Clive Allen and David Ginola.[LNB] And his manager has now backed the the winger to join the aforementioned players as a Spurs legend. [LNB]'It is great for him, he deserves it,' Redknapp said. 'It is a great award for him to win and I could not be more pleased. Listen, you look at the people that have won it for Gareth to have won it at such a young age it must be the proudest moment of his life. It is incredible. [LNB]'He has been brilliant, I am really pleased for him and he is a nice lad, which is the most important thing.'[LNB] When questioned whether he could establish himself as a Spurs great, Redknapp added: 'Yeah, sure he can.
