Gareth Bale setback has Spurs worried ahead of AC Milan clash

Gareth Bale is a major doubt for Tottenham's Champions League clash against AC Milan next Tuesday after breaking down in training. [LNB]The Wales winger, 21, has not played for Spurs since January 22 because of a back problem but was hoping to return in time for a second trip to the San Siro this season, having scored a hat-trick there against Inter Milan in the group stage. [LNB] Struggling: Bale's back forced him offat Newcastle last month[LNB]But he suffered another back spasm that now threatens his involvement in the first leg of the last 16 tie. [LNB]Bale originally sustained the injury in the 2-1 defeat against Everton last month and broke down five minutes into his Spurs return, the 1-1 draw at Newcastle on January 22. [LNB]Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has a number of injury issues to contend with before the Milan tie and Saturday's Barclays Premier League trip to Sunderland. [LNB] Cause for concern: Bale could miss Tottenham's Champions League tie with AC Milan [LNB]Rafael van der Vaart has a calf strain that kept him out of Holland's friendly against Austria, while Luka Modric had his appendix removed last week and Peter Crouch has needed treatment for an on-going back complaint. [LNB]But Bale's problem is thought to be so serious Wales manager Gary Speed is sweating on his fitness for the Euro 2012 qualifier against England at the Millennium Stadium on March 26.
