Fulham land June kick-off as UEFA award England extra Europa League spot

Share[LNB]Fulham could play in the Europa League next season, but the club's campaign would have to kick off on June 30 - just 39 days after this Premier League season ends. [LNB]Norway, England and Sweden have each gained an extra place through UEFA's Fair Play Ranking and Mark Hughes's side are likely to benefit.[LNB] All smiles: Fulham are set to play in the Europa League next season - but it would mean a very early start to their season [LNB] Fulham are second in the Premier League's Fair Play table behind Chelsea - who have already qualified for the Champions League - with one match remaining. [LNB]Last year's Europa League runners-up are the only side not to have a player sent off this term, although Hughes was ordered to the stands at Wolves last month. [LNB]But Fulham would have to play eight matches - three two-legged qualifying rounds and a play-off home and away - to reach the group stage. [LNB] Back in business: But Fulham's season would kick-off just 39 days after the present one [LNB]Starting so early would also cause havoc with the club's pre-season plans, as yet unconfirmed. [LNB]Fulham would also be likely to contest the initial tie without some of their internationals, such as Clint Dempsey and Brede Hangeland, who require at least a three-week break. [LNB]Hughes said: 'I think it feels like a chore because of where we are this season - it's been a long one. [LNB] Agony: Fulham reached the final last season, but were beaten by Atletico Madrid [LNB]'You feel there's a point close to the end of the season where you are looking for a break so you can come back refreshed.[LNB] 'It is a big demand but we would face it if we had to.
